How to write professional disposition statements

Reflection
On completing the previous assessment on professional disposition, it allows a closer and more in depth look at a personal professional disposition statement. This statement needs to consider all aspects of what a professional disposition should evolve around such as high expectations, respect for the diversity of others, fairness, professional conduct, reflection, curiosity, honesty, compassion, advocacy, and dedication (College, n.d.). After consideration of the different aspects, a personal statement of professional disposition would be that the classroom is a welcoming and positive atmosphere where all students can learn and are encouraged to be and do their best, and that the students, co-workers, and the community will have a teacher who believes in true teamwork that evolves around honesty, integrity, fairness, and respect. The assessment aligns up with the personal professional statement in that the assessment mentions being conscientious that all students can learn and that they learn differently, and also, that students are affected by the environment that they learn in. The statement mentions being a true teammate towards students, co-workers, and the community, which reflects the importance of knowing students and their communities, being responsible when working with others, and teaching being an important profession. Showing respect for other’s feelings and thoughts and being willing to work well with all involved, displays the honesty, integrity, fairness, and respect in the statement. A personal statement of professional disposition does not just develop instantly but over time along with a mixture of observations from others who are experienced and genuine morals that pre-exist. Having good morals helps to easily bring about the aspects of honesty, fairness, integrity, and respect, but seeing someone who puts all aspects of a professional disposition into action gives a great visual and understanding to build and develop a personal statement. During observations, teachers talked to everyone with respect and showed that they knew their students, and displayed fairness by modifying lessons as needed and being considerate of all backgrounds and cultures. The teachers dress was always professional, and they were never late but always punctual due to taking their profession serious. The teachers were more than willing to work with other teachers to meet the student’s needs and help them be successful. Therefore, seeing different aspects put into reality in the schools and classrooms helped to develop a desired personal professional disposition statement. The teachers that were observed were teachers who had many years of experience and have had time to take steps to improve and shape their personal professional disposition. Steps that can be taken to improve a professional disposition is to first talk with the principal of the school and see what they expect from the teachers, and then discussing with other co-workers their personal dispositions can help to give insight. After discussions and insights from other professionals, if more information is needed on improvement of a personal professional disposition, then research can be conducted to discover professionals from around the world opinion on great professional dispositions. Then, personal professional dispositions are modified and improved to insure a successful career in education.
