Reporting in Autotask

Reports allow you to derive information and business insights from the data in your Autotask instance. They aggregate and summarize large quantities of data and present them in an easily consumable form, often using visuals like charts or gauges.

We recommend that you explore the available options in the following order:

Dashboards

Old-fashioned reports are so 20th century! Information that was previously only accessible in reports is now presented on the Autotask Dashboard as easy to read charts, tables, and gauges that you can drill into and export, if needed. They have the following advantages over reports:

Pre-built reports

Autotask contains a large number of pre-built reports. Some of them are hard-coded and are available to users with security level permission to view reports by category, such as CRM reports. These are called Standard Reports. Others, known as System Reports, we built for you using our LiveReports engine and they can be copied and edited, or run as-is. System LiveReports can be published to users by category, department, security level, or to individual resources.

For an overview of available pre-built reports, refer to Finding a pre-built report.

LiveReports custom report engine

If neither dashboards nor pre-built reports entirely meet your reporting needs, you can provide users who have experience with reporting tools with access to LiveReports Designer. LiveReports Designer is a powerful but easy to use custom reporting engine that allows you to copy and edit pre-built reports, and create new ones.

For more information on finding, creating, publishing and scheduling these reports, refer to LiveReports.

Report Data Warehouse

The Autotask Report Data Warehouse provides a comprehensive set of data views that allow you to efficiently access your organization's Autotask data for use with your preferred report creation tool. The views map to the Autotask instance base tables. By exposing views instead of the base tables, the Report Data Warehouse prevents the need to update your reports any time a change is made to the tables.

This tool is an optional add-on for most customers.

For information on Report Data Warehouse, refer to the Report Data Warehouse documentation in Developer Help for SOAP API, REST API, ExecuteCommand API and Report Data Warehouse.

Performance Analytics workbooks

Performance Analytics workbooks do more than target day to day operations. With workbooks you can follow business performance over time, identify trends or spikes and dips, and explore what was happening at those times. Then, you can apply what you learn to improve future performance.

This tool is an optional add-on for most customers.
